Sensitivity Readings
Review manuscripts focusing on the portrayal of marginalized groups and identities in stories. We read to assess for problematic or offensive language, factual inaccuracies, and bias. We provide feedback, insight, and suggested revisions to ensure depictions aren’t inaccurate, harmful, insulting, or misrepresentative. We provide sensitivity readings on work containing the following marginalized groups: individuals with craniofacial disorders; individuals with disfigurements or appearance-altering medical conditions; individuals who identify as women; individuals suffering from mental illness as a result of trauma.
